Tetley Walker 0
Squires Gate 3
DESPITE dominating for long spells Tetley Walker slumped against high flying Squires Gate at Long Lane on Saturday.
It was against the run of play when Squires Gate opened the scoring after 38 minutes. Walker failed to clear from a corner and following a frantic goal mouth scramble Paul Thompson shot through a crowded six yard box.
Walker continued to push forward without finding the final ball which could have turned their overwhelming possession into clear-cut goalscoring chances.
Squires Gate secured their first win in history over Tetley with two fortunate second half goals.
Gary Smith was controversially adjudged by the match officials to have sprung Walker's offside trap to race away and clinically shoot past Lee Medland.
Then Medland tried to clear a long ball but his kick rebounded off Smith into the unguarded net.
Team: Medland, Jones, Roberts, Maher, Trantum, Street, Gwyther, Preidt, Plant, Clay, Healey. Subs: Drewery, Tandy.
Tomorrow, Saturday, Tetley entertain bottom of the table Oldham Town at Long Lane in North Western Trains League Division Two, kick-off 3pm.
