WARRINGTON coach Darryl Van de Velde said after Sunday's shocker at Bradford that his side's season will not collapse on the back of the disappointing defeat.

He said: "It hasn't broken our back. It's history now, gone!"

The Australian pointed out that the camp were unhappy about putting on such a poor performance for the fans.

He said: "It was a great effort by the fans. They turned up in their numbers and we obviously let them down. We were disappointing and we're disappointed about that."

Van de Velde conceded that one of Warrington's strengths this season was lacking at Odsal.

He said: "We missed a lot of one-on-one tackles which I was not pleased about because it has been our strength for the last few games and we hadn't had a lot of tries scored against us but they've all come in one game unfortunately."

Van de Velde added: "It was just an old-fashioned hiding. We didn't compete for the full 80 minutes. We didn't have any ball in the first 30 minutes and we paid the price.

"At the end of the day Bradford played very, very good football for most of the 80 minutes."

Due to squandering so much possession and having to tackle constantly Van de Velde was surprised by his players' tactics on the back of it.

He said: "I thought we should have been kicking the ball out into touch because the boys were actually exhausted out there but we kept kicking the ball in play and Bradford were running big yardage back at us. I thought we lacked a little bit of direction."

Bradford coach Matthew Elliott was obviously a delighted man afterwards.

He said: "Going into the game I was worried about Warrington.

"From all the footage I had seen of them they had been playing a pretty positive stayle of rugby but our focus is on ourselves this year and I thought we were pretty impressive today."
