WACKY wigs and manic mohicans were the order of the day at Newton District Junior School last Friday.
More than 400 children joined staff to raise £125 for Comic Relief when the school held a Mad Hair Day to tie in with the TV chuckle-athon.
A school spokeswoman said: "For Red Nose Day, we encouraged children and staff to wear their hair as whacky and as weird as they wanted.
"But it was all on the condition that they had their hair cut properly afterwards. All hair styles are back to normal now - even the teachers'!"
