VISITORS to Warrington Hospital may have problems parking their cars - because of the wrong type of rain!
It appears that the hospital's pay and display machines just don't seem to like the North West's normal climate conditions - wet and windy.
Car users attempting to park on a decidedly damp day two weeks ago were baffled when the machine refused to accept their money.
With the keen clampers in mind, some of the puzzled parkers thought they'd inform the hospital's help-desk of their predicament.
They were put at ease when a member of staff explained the reason for the machines lack of co-operation.
One mystified motorist told the GUARDIAN: "We wanted to make sure we weren't clamped and a woman behind the desk said that they knew about the machines.
"Then she told us is it happens when the wind blows the rain in the wrong direction and that we shouldn't tell the GUARDIAN!
Staff on the help-desk said that they had experienced problems with their parking machines from time to time, but that the explanation was based on mirth and not meteorology.
Liz Mushet, help-desk boss, said: "I think it was just a light-hearted joke to explain the problem."
