A GOVERNOR at Warrington's "boot camp" for young offenders has been sacked from his post after allegations of fraudulent expenses claims at another prison.
Liam Doyle was dismissed from his position within Thorn Cross's High Intensity Training department last week, following a lengthy investigation into the claims. Mr Doyle is believed to have been suspended within weeks of arriving at Thorn Cross. The allegations relate to his previous job at Chelmsford Prison. A spokesman for the prison service said: "Mr Doyle did appeal against his dismissal, but it was turned down."
The spokesman stressed that none of the alleged fraudulent acts had taken place while Mr Doyle was employed at Thorn Cross.
The prison service will not be taking any further action against Mr Doyle following his dismissal. A spokesman for Thorn Cross added: "All we can confirm is that a governor has been dismissed for misappropriating funds, but it did not happen at Thorn Cross. It was many years ago."
