DONATIONS in memory of baby Callum are to be used to give seriously ill children a chance of life.
The newborn boy's death a year ago moved many residents to donate cash to help pay for a proper funeral service.
Callum was finally laid to rest at an emotional service at St Elphin's Church in July - 136 days after his body was discovered in a bin bag at woodland in Callands.
More than £1,500 was left in the fund's coffers after the funeral and now Warrington Hospital's special care baby unit will receive a proportion of the cash.
The donation will be put into the unit's general funds to buy new equipment in the future.
Money will also be used to finance a memorial baby garden at Walton Lea Crematorium, which will be dedicated to Callum.
Councillor Mary Greenslade, of the council's Environmental Health Committee, said: "The tragic events leading to the death of this baby shocked the whole town.
"Many people made donations and it gives us all hope when some good comes from a terrible tragedy.
"The money will help other newborn babies as well as providing a place for the parents who lose a new child to grieve," she said.
