GREEN-FINGERED Alan and Margaret Mann are opening their garden to the public next month as part of a nationwide scheme.

The couple, from Warmingham Road, Coppenhall have taken part in the National Gardens Scheme for the last five years.

They have lived in the house for 18 years and have always been keen gardeners spending hours tending to the 2,000 plants.

The garden boasts a pond, rockery, alpines and peat garden along with a woodland area full of snowdrops and similar flowers.

This year their garden will be open to the public on April 18, June 27 and August 1 between 1pm and 5pm.

Money raised on each day will go towards the charities supported by the National Gardens Scheme. Last year £47,202 was donated to a variety of causes including Marie Curie Cancer care, MacMillan Cancer relief and the Gardens Fund of the National Trust.
