A FOUR-year-old girl suffered a neck injury in a freak accident on Ditton flyover on Monday afternoon - but only a stroke of luck spared her life.
Jasmine Rimmer, of Northwich, was a passenger in her mother Joanne's Vauxhall Corsa when a tipper truck carrying a load of Welsh stone keeled over and landed on the car.
The accident happened at 1.30pm.
Although Jasmine suffered a neck injury and her mother was treated for shock, they would almost certainly have died if their car had not been sandwiched in the gap between the cab and the main body of the truck.
Both were taken to Whiston Hospital.
The child's injury is serious but not life-threatening.
Police closed the road for a number of hours from the time of the accident as the lanes were strewn with stone.
A crane was needed to remove the truck.
