THE green light has been given for the Winsford Town Mayor's fundraising committee to hold an April festival extravaganza in the town.
This exciting venture, being the first ever Town Festival to take place in Winsford, will include a spectacular fun fair and white knuckle rides never seen in the area before.
The attractions will be provided by Gore & de Koning - renowned for their presentations in Manchester city centre.
This will all take place during the weekend of April 9 to 11. But the fun and entertainment doesn't end there.
There will also be the Mayor, Pam Booher's, charity dance in Winsford Civic Hall on Friday, April 9.
And other activities throughout the weekend include children's workshops in the Community Arts Centre, Dene Drive, a disco at New Images Youth Centre, Nixon Drive, a charity market, football tournament and many more events which are still to be confirmed.
Because the highways committee at Cheshire County Council refused permission to close roads in Winsford, plans to create an enormous street festival had to be shelved. As a result, the two main festival sites will be Dene Drive car park, which will be closed for the duration of the festival, and the Queens car park, closed from 9am on Thursday, April 8, also for the duration.
Any Winsford residents or organisations interested in participating in the festival fun can contact Steve Smith on 01606 559789.
