THE funeral of a musician who entertained Northwich for over 40 years, took place this week.
Les Roberts, of Farm Road, Weaverham, died on March 13, leaving his wife, Milly, and sons, Arthur and David. He was 78.
His eldest son, Arthur, said: "He was probably the best and most well known pianist in Northwich and the surrounding areas.
"He used to play regularly at the Talbot Arms and the Green Dragon on Witton Street, and at the Wheatsheaf and the Owley Wood Club, in Weaverham."
Les was born in Liverpool but moved to Weaverham with his wife in 1952.
He worked as a painter and decorator before joining BICC Cables, in Helsby, where he worked until retiring in the mid 1980s.
Les' youngest son, David, of Manora Road, Northwich, said: "Music was his talent and as a pianist and a man he was popular all over town."
