NEWTON folk have been encouraged to go compost crazy as part of a scheme to support recycling.
Subsidised home composting units will be available this Sunday, March 28, in a special one day sale.
The green initiative, which has Government funding and council backing, will see Home Composters sold for just £11.00 - a saving of nearly £50.
The one day sale will be held at Earlestown Market Square from 10am to 3pm. The composters will be sold on a first come, first serve basis only to Newton residents.
The home composter can treat fruit and vegetables scraps, tea bags, grass clippings and old plants and weeds and creates compost for use on house plants or in the garden.
Experts will also will be there giving free advice and selling cheap compost at just £1 a bag.
The composters are being subsidised by the government's Single Regeneration Budget in partnership with St. Helens Council.
