I AM writing in response to the letter in your Points of View, dated March 12, "Our Postie Has a Different Shift."
Have these people ever thought of asking the Post Office why they get their mail later than they did years ago? I know why, they have a lot more mail to deliver now, so it takes a lot longer to sort out in a morning. Therefore they are later in reaching their delivery. As for Mrs Brown who says the next avenue to her gets their mail at 7.30am to 8.45am and her's after 9.00am, does she think postmen are like Father Christmas and get it all done at one time.
I can assure Mrs Brown that Postmen don't have different shifts, or have a slow postman, just a lot of Mail to deliver in a short space of time. As they are up at 4.45am in a morning I don't think they do bad to do what they do in all weathers and conditions.
My husband is a postman and gets praised by his customers on his delivery for the job he does for them.
