WARRINGTON leapfrogged Tetley Walker on Tuesday to move into the top six of the North Western Trains League second division, despite failing to find the net for the first time in 14 games.

Town, who extended their unbeaten run to nine matches, included reserve Dave Tickle in a new-look back line due to Chris Hunt's, Ian Bold's and Ian Hughes' injuries.

Midfielder Terry Nestor, an inspirational force behind Town's resurgence this season, produced the only scoring opportunity of note in an uninspired first half when he powered a header inches wide following a cross by Paul Anderton.

Talented winger Paul Berry had a fierce drive intercepted by 'keeper Mark Bedford.

Chadderton squandered the best chance to decide the outcome when Colin Bennett, left unmarked, fired wide from close range with only 'keeper Alan Thompson to beat.

Thompson, who will now miss three games due to work commitments, excelled in the closing minutes in blocking a powerful angled drive by substitute Chris Barlow.

Town: Thompson, Tague, Cartledge, Tickle, Edwards, Berry, Nestor, Shaw (Clough 75mins), Tyrrell (Blair 89mins), Whitehead, Anderton (Fenton 84mins).
