SUPERB bowling from Darren Washington on Saturday set Knypersley on the road to an excellent victory at Caverswall.

Washington claimed a season's best five for 40 off 12 overs as his side leapfrogged their opponents into sixth place in the league.

Mark Tournier was also in fine form with the bat, hitting a vital 75 runs to lay the foundation of a five-wicket victory.

The away win lifted Knypersley one place, and dropped Caverswall from fifth to seventh.

Caverswall weere bowled out for only 156 in 50 overs on a difficult wicket, a target comfortably passed by Knypersley, who ended on 160 for five.

Knypersley took 20 points from the win to six for their opponents.

Knypersley made a superb start when their professional went for a duck in the first over.

However the away side was held up for an hour, before Washington took his first wicket with the score on 77.

He claimed his second wicket one run later, and took two more with the score on 113.

Knypersley pressed home their advantage when Andy Farr, returning to the side after recovering from a broken finger, took two wickets.

Tournier claimed three wickets for 33 off 13 overs, and Farr took two for 40 off 15.

Knypersley lost their first wicket with the score on 33 when Rob Riley was out for 14.

Tournier and Dave Brew added 57 before Brew went for 13 with the total on 90.

Tournier continued at the crease with one of his best performances of the season before he was out at 114.

However Knypersley were well on the course for victory by then, and cruised past their target despite losing two more men at 124 and 145.

Paul Goodwin scored 14, and Chris Barry made 16.
