POLICE chief Ian Johns is looking to introduce a new system aimed at providing a better service to the public.

Under the new shift system officers will book on duty at one of five police stations, Congleton, Sandbach, Northwich, Winsford and Frodsham.

After a daily briefing they will go out on patrol, policing the whole of the Congleton and Vale Royal police division.

"The new system will ensure officers are deployed at times when the demand is greatest, and will provide our public with a better and more effective policing service," said supt Johns, commander of the division.

"The change comes in on July 12, and will enable the maximum number of officers to be on duty at peak times when they are required."
