FORMER Alex star David Platt is heading back to Gresty Road this season but he will be sitting on the visitors' bench.
Platt, aged 33, took over as boss of Nottingham Forest last Thursday and immediately set his sights on getting the club back into the Premiership, following their third relegation in six seasons.
He is regarded as Crewe's best player making 134 appearances for the club and scoring 55 goals before going on to play for Aston Villa, in Italy, for Arsenal and England.
Crewe won't be extending him any early festive cheer though when they first meet this season at the City Ground on December 18th.
