THERE were no American Independence Day celebrations for the Advance Personnel Surge, who narrowly missed out in their best contest so far this year, going down 34-36 to Wolverhampton Vipers on Sunday.
Scott Reynolds opened the scoring for the Surge with a 29 yard touchdown run before a series of errors left the Vipers in the lead. They then always seemed to stay just ahead for the remainder of the game.
Scoring highlights for the Surge included Carl Robinson completing a 70 yard pass from Richard Large and Anthony Charles' 16 yard reception.
Early mistakes cost the Surge dearly but they can go on to win at Strathclyde, in two weeks time, to guarantee a play-off place.
