AN OVERWHELMING victory against Elworth leaves Nantwich with the task of beating Crewe next week to draw level with Rode Park, league leaders since the first week.

Nantwich completely outclassed Elworth with Andy Newton smashing 8 sixes and 10 fours in his 115. Topliss made 59 and their first wicket stand of 180 put the match far beyond their opponents who finished on 68 for 7.

Cholmondeley climbed to fourth place with a comfortable 61 run victory over Alsager. A second wicket stand for Cholmondeley of 156 between Opie (106) and Baker (50) was ended by Perry who returned figures of 3 for 19 among the carnage of 184 for 6. The Alsager batsmen never came to terms with this huge total and finished on 123 for 7.

Crewe's total of 103 for 7 proved not quite enough as Wright, with 57 not out, steered Aston home by 6 wickets, but with only one ball to spare.

Woore climbed off the bottom as they too got home with one ball left. Wistaston's 118 for 3, with McLellan (45*) and Gregg (26) the main contributors, looked a good score. Denton Brock changed things with an aggressive 41 not out and Woore won by 4 wickets for their second victory of the season.
