CREWE produced an excellent performance against Stone last Saturday to earn their third win of the season and maintain a respectable mid-table position.

Stone invited the visitors to bat first on the rain-affected pitch and they obliged by making a good start, putting on 47 runs for the fall of the first wicket as Kapoor was hoaxed out of his crease by fellow professional Magithia's bowling and stumped for 41.

Then, Crewe lost three quick wickets, with two similar stumpings and looked unsteady on 69 for 4. Stevenson and Walton (30) started to repair the damage and took the score to 99 before another blitz of wickets brought the visitors to 105 for 7. Dawson came to the crease and made a vital 23n.o. and lead Crewe to a reasonable total of 147 all out considering the conditions.

Stone began their reply and were in trouble straight away, losing regular wickets to Kapoor and Bishop and struggling on 33 for 5. Hobson was the only man to offer any resistance and made 63 not out in a final score of 105 all out with Milne clearing up most of the tail with his left arm spin.

Crewe will happy with their splendid bowling and fielding performance.
