BARMAID Kate Reese has been getting herself in the spirit for fundraising.

The teenage daredevil is preparing to tackle the 200m Krypton Factor assault course to raise money for the Neuromuscular Centre in Winsford.

Kate, aged 19, has already started training for the big event - on a mini assault course outside the Golden Lion in Winsford, where she works.

Explaining why she decided to take on the challenge, Kate said: "I like doing things for charity and I think that the Neuromuscular Centre is a really worthy local cause."

Kate, who lives on the Greenfields Park estate, is trying to convince some of her regulars to take part in the event on August 29 and 30, as she has to be part of a team of four to compete.

She has already persuaded friends Julie Ball and Paul Cowin, who both live and work in Winsford, to take part. Together they must raise a minimum of £250. Anne McBride, spokeswoman for the Neuromuscular Centre which offers support to people with muscular dystrophy, urged people to back the team.

She said: "They are looking for support from the local community to help raise the cash. People can sponsor them to complete the challenging course which is definitely not for the faint hearted."

If anyone would like to sponsor Kate, she is working at the Golden Lion most nights or they can call Anne at the Neuromuscular Centre on 01606 861733.
