AIRCRAFT supremo Bryan Lockyer is hoping to be a record breaker this weekend when he holds a festival of flight at his Darnhall air base.

The owner of Ashcroft Air Field, in Winsford Road, will be attempting to crack the record for most aircraft to land in one day at a private farm strip.

Bryan said: "At the moment, the record stands at 235 so we're going to try really hard to get the aircraft in the field in the same day."

To ensure that the record attempt is official, landings will be radio controlled by air traffic controllers from Manchester Airport.

Bryan's aim this year is to raise more than £5,000 - money which will go to various charities in the town such as St Luke's Hospice, St John Ambulance Brigade, 1st St Chad's Scouts, Winsford and Middlewich Sea Cadets and Winsford Fire Brigade.

The entertainment also includes a bouncy castle, various games and food and refreshments. Admission for the event, which takes place on Saturday and Sunday, from 10am to 5pm, is £2 for adults and £1 for children. Parking at the site is free.
