THE GLORIOUS weather couldn't inspire any of the town's teams to victory in the Meller Braggins League this weekend.

Oakmere and Weaverham couldn't make home advantage count as they went down to Prestbury and Winsford respectively in Division One.

Davenham and Barnton didn't fare any better as they both lost in their Division Two away clashes at Ashley and Lymm Oughtrington Park.

Oakmere crashed to 112 all out in their game against high flyers Prestbury. Peter Jones's 26 was the highlight of their batting display.

Ed Gibson took 2-34 but Prestbury easily reached the target.

Neighbours Winsford proved far too strong for Weaverham in their derby clash at the weekend.

John Lighfoot's 35 runs helped Weaverham reach 140-9 before declaring. Winsford cruised to 143-1 without difficulty to easily win.

An impressive 55 from Andrew Floyd and good support from Phil Sharples (40 n/o) steered Davenham to 156-8 at Ashley before declaring

The visitors bowlers couldn't restrict a strong Ashley batting line up and they easily reached the target for the loss of just two wickets.

Barnton started well but failed to capitailse as they visted Lymm Oughtrington Park.

Good knocks from John Burgess and Steve Crawford helped the visitors to get off to a flying start.

Phil Wingfield put in Barnton's batting display of the match with 42 as they declared on 151-6.

The total proved no problem for Lymm as they reached the target with six overs to spare.
