ANOTHER solid batting display from Daniel Leech helped Winnington Park to a much needed win in their bid to avoid the drop in the Murray Smith Division Two.

Leech's excellent innings of 52 backed up an all round team performance took Park to a three wicket victory against Mobberley at the Recreation Ground.

Batting first on a good bowling wicket, Mobberley reached 222-6 before declaring.

Jerry Booth was the pick of Park's bowlers taking 3-49.

Park's batsmen replied well and built from Daniel Leech's half century to take control of the game.

Procopis made 34 and Booth added to his wicket haul with 39 runs.

Chris Leech added 30 as Park cruised towards the total before Stuart Heyes and Will Chambers completing the task as they reached 223-7.

The 20 points lifts Park off the bottom of the table after Timperley lost at Congleton.

A magnificent stand of 159 between Oulton Park's Steve Yates and John Davies helped them collect the points against Heaton Mersey.

Oulton struggled early on at 32-3 but Davies (89) and Yates (78) steadied the ship.

Roger Whitehouse added 29 to take Oulton to 254-6.

Heaton Mersey frustrated the Oulton attack with a display of defensive cricket that kept them in the game.

Andy McIlroy took 3-57 and Mike Johns 2-50 as Heaton hung on for the points to close on 205-8.
