GRAPPENHALL returned to winning ways with victory in both their matches at the weekend.

On Saturday Grappenhall travelled to Sale in their Cheshire County League fixture and batting first they amassed 218-8 in 47 overs, including a superb century for Willie Sharp.

Grappenhall's hard-hitting middle order then took up the mantle to release a quick 60 and give them the opportunity to declare early.

In reply, Sale were dismissed for 123 runs with eight overs to spare as spinners Neil Titchard and Danny Sisson brought about Sale's demise. Titchard took three wickets and Sisson took four.

On Sunday, Grappenhall were away to Sandbach in the fourth round of the Cheshire Cup.

Batting first on a lively wicket, Grappenhall reached a creditable 140-9 from their 40 overs. The only recognised batsman to master the conditions was Ian Jackson, who scored a quality 42.

In reply, Sandbach were never allowed to mount any kind of challenge as they were dismissed for 73. Best bowlers for Grappenhall were Danny Sisson and Mark Williams, who both picked up three wickets.

Grappenhall now play New Brighton in the quarter finals.

The second team were at home to Chester Boughton Hall in their Cheshire County League match on Saturday.

Grappenhall reached 224-4 in their 50 overs, with Steve Hartley top scoring with an impressive 81. He was well supported by Ashley Raynor's 55.

In reply, Chester were restricted by some tight bowling and never matched the required run rate. They scored 187-7 from their 50 overs with the wickets being shared by all the Grappenhall bowlers.
