JOHN Taylor led a strong Warrington contingent into the finals day of one of the biggest bowls events of the year- and came away with the title.

The King and Queen player revelled on his home turf in the Greenalls Classic as he crushed the opposition with a superb display of how to tame a fast green.

With the green at its trickiest Taylor adapted best to the difficult conditions, brushing aside early opposition from Kevin Wainwright and M. Gilmour 21-10.

In the semi-finals he found another gear to beat Liverpool outsider D. McDermott 21-9 before beating teammate Larry Wells by the same score in the final to scoop the £500 first prize.

Andy Denton, another king and Queen player, also made the semi-finals to mark the team's almost complete domination of the event.
