.AN INVESTIGATION has begun at a top hotel after a customer fell victim to an electric shock.

Bosses at the Daresbury Park Hotel have launched an inquiry after Barbara Nixon, a member of the venue's gym club, was subjected to a shock while in a shower room.

The 30-year-old woman was taken by ambulance from the Chester Road hotel to Warrington Hospital for check-ups but she was later allowed home.

Just moments before a digger on a neighbouring building site, working on part of the hotel's multi-million pound redevelopment plans, had severed an electrical cable.

It is not yet known if the two incidents are related but Stockton Heath based hotel owners Greenalls have promised to look into the matter.

Hotel spokesman Mark Bevan said: "We have not been able to ascertain yet whether this was electrical. "Development work was going on and, at that moment, we did have a problem with a digger going through a cable."

The Health and Safety Executive has been informed about the incident, which occurred last Friday morning at around 9.30am, and officials there are expected to conduct their own investigation
