RESIDENTS in Kennet Drive, Congleton, have received a boost in their bid to slow the speed of cars outside their homes. The road links Park Lane and Canal Road, and is the borough council's top priority for traffic calming measures in 1999.

The estate road has replaced Bromley Road at the top of the priority list after the introduction of new criteria for assessing traffic calming schemes.

Wilbrahams Way, Alsager, has jumped to third spot behind Bromley Road, with Station Road, Alsager, in fifth, and Cumberland Road, Congleton, in seventh.

Ullswater Road and Boundary Lane, Congleton, now have criteria scores of under 10, meaning they no longer meet the required scores for inclusion on the list of schemes due to be carried out.

The priority list contains 49 roads across the borough, and is worked out using technical information, accident records and the speed of traffic.
