LOCAL Lads Neil Lamont and John Parton fared well in round seven of the 1999 ABP Motorsport Yokohama Tyres Modified Production Championship at Snetterton on July 3rd.
Nantwich racer Lamont in his Lamont Property Services-backed Peugeot 205GTi battled hard with a Ford Escort ahead and eventually pressured it into a spin, securing a career best sixth place overall and third in his class. A superb result considering his eight week break from racing.
Shavington's John Parton suffered a setback in qualifying with a major misfire although the team did manage to cure the problem and get him out to race. The ABP Motorsport Citroen AX GT driver had a duel for eighth place and was happy with "A good race after a poor start". John clinched eighth overall and third in class.
Next round is in Anglesey, North Wales on August 1.
