EXPECTATIONS were never high for the Surge's depleted ranks as they travelled to face Northern Division champions Yorkshire Rams with only 15 players last Sunday.

Without injured quarterback Richard Large and his deputy Anthony Charles, Lee Trethaway had the difficult task of leading the Surge in an uphill struggle.

Yorkshire dominated with Gary Bailey scoring freely and his side mounted a 20-0 lead by half time.

The Surge's defence tried their best to resist, but the Rams offence were in devastating form, increasing the scoreline with some great all-round play.

Finally in the fourth quarter, the Surge gained some consolation when a 67 yard drive ended with Trethaway scoring on an 11 yard run, their only points of the game.

Finishing with only 12 fit players, the Surge need their wounded to recover quickly to make the trip to Glasgow in two weeks time.

Final score: Yorkshire Rams 40 Advance Personnel Surge 06.
