A THRILLING finale to the league season saw early leaders Rode Park become worthy champions as Nantwich were deprived of their fourth successive title by defeat at the hands of Crewe.

Onneley heaped more misery on the former champs by taking the runners-up spot due to a superior wickets taken tally.

After a promising start Nantwich's innings fell away with only Simon Blackedge starring with a hard earned 49, although their total of 125 for 9 looked a reasonable target to defend. Neil Webb was the pick of Crewe's attack with 4 for 17.

Paul Milne (61) led Crewe's chase for victory and with 4 needed off the final ball, Webb completed a brilliant performance smashing a boundary to shatter Nantwich's title aspirations.

Onneley looked like being comfortable winners after scoring 140 for 3 with Goodwin (59*) and Woodley (35*) the main contributors. Wistaston came close though, only 5 runs short when the overs ran out.

Cholmondeley maintained fourth place with a strong 43 run victory over Aston.
