CULTURAL delights from schools across Crewe came together at South Cheshire College on Monday.

The vibrant and colourful multi-cultural show was sponsored by the North West Arts Board and the Ward Blenkinsop Trust.

It included dance, drama and artwork by more than 125 year eight pupils from Coppenhall, Kings grove, Ruskin, St Thomas More and Victoria Secondary Schools.

The pupils had been working with Indian dancer Bisarkha Sarkar, visual artists Bill Ming and Nina Edge and musicians and storytellers Nicky Read and Mi'soshi over the last few weeks.

Drama advisor Simon Taylor said: "This show is the first time that local children from Crewe schools have been able to come together in such a way and we hope it will herald the first of many more combined arts projects.

"It has been an exciting opportunity for artists from various different cultures to come and work with young people in Crewe and widen their perspective of the world and how different races live, as well as discovering new art forms."

Paul Brownbill, theatre co-ordinator at the college, said: "We are delighted that we have been able to provide a venue for such an exciting event which also helps us to maintain our commitment to the multi-cultural arts."
