HALTON youngsters attended a Civic Reception in their honour at the Auto Quest Stadium, Widnes on Wednesday evening after taking part in the first ever Cheshire Youth Games in Macclesfield on Saturday, July 3.

More than 130 children, aged between 11-13 and 30 team managers, parents and coaches attended the event which was part of a series of county youth games being held across the country.

Halton's Football Team for pupils with severe learning disabilities came joint first with Crewe and Nantwich in their tournament and received Halton's only Gold Medal of the Games however at the closing ceremony all the children received Bronze medals for taking part.

The Halton Team was also congratulated for the spirit and personality of their Team and was presented with the Fair Play Award Trophy.

The reception at the stadium was an opportunity for the organisers to congratulate the teams who took part and thank the many volunteers who helped out on the day.

In the speeches the Halton Youth Games Organising Committee also thanked Halton Lea Asda, Golden Wonder and Widnes McDonalds for their generous donations.

They provided the necessary drinks and snacks for the children on the day.
