RUNCORN'S plan to build a supermarket on Canal Street is still alive despite the loss of development partner Morbaine. But directors are also now looking at remodelling their home into a new stadium, with a different developer apparently interested.

Last month's planning refusal has precipitated Morbaine's withdrawal, but Runcorn's chairman Dr David Robertson says that, with an appeal still open to the Linnets, the club has already been approached by a potential replacement

He told Sports World: "We have been contacted by another developer who thinks they may be able to achieve more for us than Morbaine did."

Dr Robertson says a third developer is interested in reconstucting Canal Street itself, an option the board is due to consider.

Meanwhile, Rochdale visit Runcorn on Saturday (KO 3pm) with Bolton coming on Monday night (KO 7.30pm).

After the Bolton game, Premier League referee Uriah Rennie will answer questions on refereeing and football in the social club. Local referees are welcome to get a top man's perspective on the thankless job!

A weekly coaching course for kids is being started at Canal Street's training pitch on Thursday, July 22. Sessions run from 5pm to 7pm and cost £1 a time.

Finally, supporters can talk about football and next season with Mark Carter at a lunchtime forum on July 27 (12-2pm).
