THERE wasn't a cloud in the sky for the 71st Glazebury Gala on Saturday.

A huge number of visitors enjoyed the floats, fancy dress competition and games which took place on Glazebury Primary School field.

The best float contest was won by the village's WI who took inspiration from the famed calendar released by their colleagues in Yorkshire earlier this year. They bravely bared almost all and raised more than £100 for leukaemia research. Second prize went to Glazebury School for a float with a story-book theme and third prize was won by Glazebury Scouts who held a Millennium Party on their wagon.

When the floats arrived at the school field, Gala Queen Hollie-Jayne France was crowned.

Prizes were also awarded for the children's fancy dress with Charlotte Wood as Tigger scooping first prize, Henry Booth dressed as a clown took second prize, while Little Bo Peep lookalike Nastasha Hamilton came third.
