PLANS to create an artificial sports arena at William Beamont High School have scored with councillors.
Education chiefs have been given permission to install 10 synthetic pitches, floodlighting and fencing at the Long Lane school by Warrington Development Control Committee.
The pitches, which form part of a wider £2.3 million package for the area, will be used for five-a-side football and other sports such as tennis, hockey and basketball.
Further improvements could see a clubhouse being built. The development will be open to leagues and other Orford and Longford schools during evenings and weekends.
