MIDDLEWICH Town lost their first pre-season friendly on Saturday, but manager Dave Twite was encouraged by the new players.

Town went down 2-0 to Welsh League Holywell Town, with a side featuring the three cousins of Birmingham City striker Dele Adebola - Chris, Paul and Michael O'Bonna.

Chris, a striker, has already signed, returning from a spell at Runcorn, while Twite runs the rule over his brothers. Nigel Booth, Lee Stein, Chris Melia, John Trow and goalkeeper Paul Kelly were other new faces in the Town line-up.

On Saturday, Middlewich hold a game in honour of veteran defender Micky Jump with an Old Boys team taking on the current side.

Ian Woan, the former Nottingham Forest star whose brother Alan is assistant manager at Middlewich, will be special guest at the event.

Next Tuesday, the friendly programme continues at home to Winsford United (kick-off 6.45pm).
