IN MARCH the swans came back to Eyre's Pit. They produced seven cygnets, a sight to see such caring parents.
Then anglers arrived for the season, on July 3 - the RSPCA were called out to a swan, it could not walk. It took two inspectors to release the swan from 30ft of line. On July 6, the RSPCA again removed line from a swan and cygnet.
Talking to an angler, he informed me that all line is taken home as it is so expensive to leave behind. Therefore the line must have been left from last season.
I hope that someone has the time and equipment to remove any remaining fishing line that may have been left in or around Eyre's pit. To date there are only three cygnets remaining.
Anglers wherever you are - please take all your tackle home with you.
