IN reply to Mr Malam's letter to the Guardian (July 14).
The A533 trunk road no longer passes through Davenham, Sandbach and Wheelock. It continues to pass through Middlewich.
In the struggle for priority, largely through the efforts of the Davenham Action Group in the 1980s, Davenham won, obtaining some £7million of the county funds for the Davenham bypass.
Without the numerous sleeping policemen along the old route of the A533, most traffic would prefer to flow through Davenham, instead of its bypass.
An under-used Davenham bypass would bring exposure of the indefensible. Why does the A533 bypass Davenham and latterly Sandbach/Wheelock, while Middlewich continues to suffer much greater levels of congestion and pollution from the A533 in Lewin Street?
