THE final of the Frodsham Individual Cup competition was a family affair as Nick Thomas took on dad Mike at Crowton.

The gripping game eventually saw youth overcome experience by just one chalk, Nick taking the game 21-20.

He had come from behind against Geoff Brassington in the semifinal to win 21-17 while Mike narrowly squeezed past Cheshire champ Jim Large 21-20.

Mid Cheshire Juniors met tough opposition in their British Park's Super Premier match against South Yorkshire.

The juniors took the Wharton Cons home leg by 37 shots with Mike Morgan (21-8) and James Harrop (21-11) the pick of the players in the 196-159 win.

Stephen Morrey, Jonathon Gurney and Neil Barnett all won 21-11 but it couldn't stop them slipping to a 15 shot defeat in the away leg. It was enough to clinch the tie with an overall 22 chalk victory to take them into the semifinal stages.

The semifinals of the BP Senior Super Premier slipped out of Mid Cheshire's grasp as they lost to Fylde.

They took the home leg at Owley Wood by 27 points with good performances from Mark Winnington (21-5) and Martin Griffiths (21-6).

The margin wasn't enough as a strong Fylde squad took their home tie by 59 shots, giving them a 32 chalk overall win, Nigel Harrison (21-8) the pick of the travellers.
