NORTHWICH Rowing Club continue to bring home the medals after an excellent display at the National Championships in Nottingham.

The club won two golds and two silvers against some of the best rowers in the country.

The Junior 15 women's quad team hammered the competition throughout their heats at the National Watersports Centre last weekend.

Elizabeth Rossall, Eve Palfreyman, Sian Murray, Jenny Davey and cox Anna Palfreyman then powered to a gold medal in the final with an excellent row which left the competition in their wake.

Henley winner Matt Langridge also brought back gold for Northwich in the Junior 16 single scull event.

The result was never in danger for the London Road rower as he added the National Champs to his growing list of honours.

Matthew, 16, also gave a few seniors a fright when he qualified for the final of their competition, eventually finishing in a respectable six place against a tough field.

The women's Junior 14 cox quad team of Kylie Langridge, Zosia Rutkowski, Shelley Alder, Lucy James and cox Lucy Rossall earned silver in their event while Jenny Davey collected her second medal - a silver with partner Ellie Davies - for the women's Junior 16 double sculls.

Northwich RC chairman Joyce Hooper said: "It was a marvellous performance from everyone who went but it's a great achievement to come back with four medals.

"The junior girls are performing really well and Matthew is getting better all the time. It's wonderful news for the club."

Teams from Sir John Deane's college also took part in the massive event at Home Pierpoint. The crews rowed well but missed out on the medals.
