CLAIRE Wright was literally jumping for joy after picking up a silver medal at the home internationals meet in Caernarfan.
High jumper Claire, a member of Vale Royal AC, came a close second with a jump of 1m 65cm behind Welsh starlet Rebecca Jones.
Jones cleared 1m 70cm to take gold but Claire was over the moon with her performance.
Proud dad Dave said: "Only one girl managed to jump higher and it was a brilliant effort from Claire.
"It's been a fantastic year all round for her.
"Claire's set a new Cheshire record at 1m 73cm, grabbed gold at the Mason Trophy Inter County meet as well as bronze at the National Schools.
"The England call up and a silver at this event have really rounded the year off well."
Claire will be hoping to make 1999 a golden year at the Under 17's Amateur Athletics Association championships at Sheffield's Don Valley stadium next month.
