CREWE Alex made a double winning start to their pre-season preparations last Friday night.
Making the short journey to Nantwich Town, a strong Crewe side completed a comfortable 4-0 victory with Rodney Jack, Chris Lightfoot, Cameroon Trialist Umar Belongar and Carl Laurie on the scoresheet.
A crowd of more than 1,000 turned out to see the match and Nantwich town celebrate their return home to Jackson Avenue.
Another Crewe side mixed with youth and experience travelled to Newcastle Town and fell behind in the early stages but recovered to overpower their plucky opponents 4-1.
John Grant, Kevin Street and a double brace from Peter Smith were the Alex hitmen.
