POLICE have appealed to teenagers who may be planning to leave home to "keep in touch" with family and friends.

Their call follows the disappearance of a 15-year-old girl from her foster home in Nantwich.

The youngster was missing for nearly three weeks before media publicity resulted in her making contact on Thursday.

"For all that time the people who cared about her were worried sick. She had gone missing before, but never for such a long time. Everyone was worried," said Sgt Reg Orrett of the Crewe Family Unit.

"The girl went missing on July 2. There seemed no reason for her disappearance. Young people often do these things without considering the anguish they leave behind. We would urge any youngsters planning to take off to let someone know they are safe and well," he added.

Anyone who would like to contact the Family Unit can do so on 01244 614331.
