COME ON kids. School's nearly 'out' so why not join the 'in' crowd!

The borough's popular holiday schemes get underway at the beginning of next month.

Throughout August youngsters can enjoy some great activities, trips and treats.

The programme has been officially launched, along with the Easy Rider scheme which provides cheap transport.

Riders pay £6 for a smart card that carries their passport-sized picture and provides them with free-fare bus journeys around the schemes scene.

Leisure centres and parks will all host holiday specials and 'away days' include an Army Adventure Day, a tour of Manchester United Museum and ground, ice skating and a living history activity day at Marbury Country Park, Northwich.

Swimming, sports, games, inflatables, roller skating, arts and crafts and competitions also feature in the programme.

All the fun on offer is detailed in the Summer Scene '99 programme being distributed to schools. This also contains an Easy Rider application form.

Details can also be obtained from the Victoria Centre 211422; Shavington Leisure Centre 663221; Coppenhall Leisure Centre 585698; Crowsfoot Centre, Nantwich 610606.

Leisure Marketing Officer Elaine Dodd will also help on 537239.

Hot spots in the programme include a Play Festival beginning on National Play Day, Wednesday, August 4 and ending on the 7th with a finale in Crewe town centre.

Picnic with the Mayor in Queens Park on Sunday, August 15, or join in a Carnival of World Cup Cricket at Shavington on August 23/24.
