A WOMAN was indecently assaulted in her own home by a "scruffy" man posing as an RSPCA inspector.

Detectives are now investigating the incident which happened in Thirlmere Way.

The man made two visits to her home, each time claiming he was from the RSPCA investigating complaints about her dogs.

On the first occasion, the woman let him in without checking his identity.

The man checked her dogs and left.

The second time, when she asked him for identification he pushed her back into the hallway and indecently assaulted her.

She scratched his face and he ran off.

The attacker is described as white, in his late 20s to early 30s, six feet tall and of athletic build.

He had a crew cut, dark brown hair and olive skin. He had stained teeth and stained fingers, dark eyes and a Widnes accent.

He was wearing a sweatshirt and had a scruffy appearance.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Widnes CID on 01928 713456.
