AT the 10th time of asking, Section Three team The Tup have finally won their first league match.

Last Thursday night they ran out 5/4 winners against Castle with the losers F Garner registering a score of 177.

At the top of this section leaders Halton Marauders maintained their two points lead with a 6/3 victory over third placed Lion but second placed Outcasts had to come from 3/1 down before running out 5/4 winners against Union Tavern.

Docksiders remain in fourth place after beating Draymen 5/4.

Crofters slipped off the top of Section Two into second place after they went down 5/4 to third placed Pavilions.

The new leaders here are Likely Lads who comprehensively beat bottom of the table Waterloo 8/1.

Pirates remain in joint third place along with Pavilions after beating Halfway Gents 5/4 with Barge in fifth still only two points adrift of the leaders after beating Norton A by the same score.

Albion took a step nearer to retaining the Section One title when they ran out 6/3 winners against Wanderers leading the way for the winners here were N Dunbebin, E Hartigan and P Melia who finished in 15,16 and 17 darts respectively.

Dockside B remain in second place after beating RNA 7/2, A Edge producing a 103 finish here for the losers.

A 16 dart game from J Keelan helped third placed Halfway A to beat Cherry Tree A Team 5/4 and Jolly Brewer were able to move up to fourth place after they beat Lion Doo Waps by the same score.

There was a change at the top of Section Four with victories for the three leading teams, T Phillips and G Mercer finished in 14 and 17 darts respectively to help leaders Dreadnaughts to a 7/2 away win over Croft Magnets with second placed Railway doing likewise against Beachers.

The latter match produced another 14 darts game this time from the losers E Silcock.

Third placed Prospect Has Beens remain within four points of the leaders after they beat Raven by the odd game.

Roundhouse B remain rooted to the foot of the table after losing out 6/3 to The Burma.

Windmill consolidated their position at the top of Section Five when they beat Eggie Arms 7/2 but second placed Dock Lads remain level on points with the leaders after a 15 dart game which included a 126 finish from J Crompton helped his team to beat Grapes 6/3.

Halfway Mixed were able to move up from next to the bottom ahead of Eggie Arms after they beat bottom of the table Total Confusion 6/3.

The Third Round of the KO Cup played last Friday night produced no real surprises but it did produce some fine individual performances.

Albion's 5/4 win over Cherry Tree A Teams included games of 18 darts from S Hughes and 19 darters from both P Ward and E Hartigan as well as a 108 finish from G Thornhill, whilst for the losers K Jones finished in 18 darts and D Woodcock produced a 106 finish.

Halfway A's 8/1 victory over Pirates produced maximums from J Keelan and P Littler and a 16 dart game from N Connor with the losers P Buckley finishing in 19 darts.

Another maximum in this competition came from Dockside B's N Corke who helped his team to beat Castle 6/3.

Norton A lost the first three games against Raven but they hit back to run out 6/3 winners.

This Friday the Third Round of the Individual Competition will be staged at the RNA Club when the Final eight competitors will compete for the final two places.

Those taking part are Sean Bell, Brian Davies and John Bennett, (all Dockside B), Chris Phillips (Cherry Tree A Team), Graham Ridgway (Wanderers), Graham Littlemore (Pavilions), Steve Roberts (Jolly Brewer) and Neil Connor (Halfway A) and play will commence at 8.30pm.

Next Friday night the same stage of the Doubles Competition will take place at the Waterloo Hotel.

Next Wednesday, July 28, the leagues AGM will take place at the War Memorial Club commencing at 7.30pm.

Unfortunately this is normally very poorly attended but it is in every registered members interest to attend as this time it has been proposed that the format for league matches be changed for the next summer league.
