IRRESPONSIBLE children have been blamed for a series of bush and grass fires.
Runcorn firefighters believe young arsonists are maliciously setting fires as a prank.
Crews had to deal with three bush fires and four grass fires on Sunday alone.
"Around 95 per cent of grass and bush fires are malicious ignition by children," said a spokesman for Runcorn fire station.
"We are asking everyone to be more vigilant and report anyone acting suspiciously."
He warned of serious consequences if the fires spread to neighbouring buildings. Culprits could face prosecution if they are caught.
