A CONTROVERSIAL scheme to demolish a cottage to provide access for 11 new houses in Penketh will be discussed at a public meeting tonight.

Wilcon Homes has applied to build the houses on land behind Heath Cottage, on Heath Road, Penketh.

Parish councillors have objected to the plans and are calling on residents to attend the meeting to hear their arguments. They believe the scheme would increase traffic hazards at the nearby Penketh High School and rob the area of an important part of its heritage.

Residents are invited to attend to view the plans, air their opinions and hear the views of guest speakers including school representatives and traffic police.

The meeting takes place tonight, Friday , at 8pm at Honiton Way Pool and Community Centre.
