WARRINGTON Athletics Club's women's track athletes had a successful night at the Cheshire Relay Championships held at the Cumberland Sports Ground, Crewe.

In the opening event the under 13 girls' 4 x 100m team of Rachael Brookes, Helen Plant, Analise Turner and Amy Daniels won their heat in 59.0secs and went on to take the silver medal in the final in 59.3.

In the u15 girls' 4 x 100m the team secured their heat in 52.4.

In the final, Dawn Makin gave the girls an excellent start handing over to sister Emma who dominated the second leg. Third runner Sarar Burdett maintained the team's position to pass on to Kim Osborne who made sure of victory with a powerful final 100m. The team's gold medal time was 53.0.

The u17s' 4 x 100m team of Claire Pleavin, Cathy Curtis, Jenny Smith and Kim Waldron gave a top class display to win the final in a time only 0.5secs outside the county record at 51.6.

The senior 4 x 100m team consisted of Lynette Yeomans, Alana Pridden, Anna Henderson and Louisa Wood and finished third in 55.0.

In the middle distance events the u17s team of Alana Pridden, Anna Henderson and Jenny Smith took gold in the 3 x 800m in 7mins 35.0secs.

In the same combined senior and u17 race the senior A team of Alison Hartop, Louisa Wood and Katie Brennan won a close race in 7.16.2 mins.
