Wolves Academy 40
London Broncos 24
AFTER having beaten London 60-12 earlier in the season the young Wolves pulled off another convincing victory.
They took a ninth-minute lead courtesy of a try from David Alstead and conversion from Steve Kirkbride, but the visitors stunned the home supporters with three tries and conversions to take an 18-6 lead after 30 minutes.
Warrington managed to narrow the gap with tries from Andy Barr and David Alstead plus one conversion from Kirkbride to go in 16-18 down at half-time.
A 42nd-minute try from Graeme Howard was converted by Kirkbride and then Paul Noone and John Hill both crossed for tries to leave Warrington 30-18 in front.
London were awarded a 62nd-minute penalty try and with the conversion they were only six points behind at 30-24.
Wolves had to withstand some strong attacking play from the Broncos as the visitors looked to level the game, but on 74 minutes David Harris eased the pressure with a try.
With just two minutes remaining, Paul Wood scored and Kirkbride converted to give Warrington a 40-24 victory.
